Woolston Under 13s Greens notched up their second successive win of the year with an excellent win, in the cup, against Premiership side Rochdale Mayfield.

In one of their best team performances yet the boys dominated throughout the game with much improved defence, communication and speed from the play the ball. The home team opened the scoring early through Liam Criscoli who crossed the line a further 3 times in the game. Further tries came from Dan Slack, Alfie Geritas and captain Connor Wrench (2) – who converted 5 goals.

The coaches were extremely proud of the all-round team effort with every single player playing an important role in the game.

Liam Criscoli was chosen as the ‘Opposition Man of the Match’ for the way he opened up their defence to score his tries. ‘Man of Steel’ for Woolston was captain Connor Wrench who led the boys throughout the game and whose kicking game was excellent. Leading in defence was ‘Top Tackler’ Ben Shepherd while the ‘Coach’s Award’ went to winger Sam Quigley whose faultless tackling and support play was rewarded with a try.

The boys have no game over Easter weekend but are hoping to provide a team for the Salford Red Devil’s 9-a-side Tournament on Easter Monday.

Woolston squad: Harry Meacock, Ben Shepherd, Jake Castle, Alfie Geritas, Theo Dutton, Jack Hickman, Sam Quigly, Dan Slack, Jack Fitzsimon, Owen Forster, Nathan Harrison, Max Evans, Connor Wrench, Jack Stevens, Jack Meacock, Liam Criscoli, Harry James.
