A COMMUNITY group which provides activities for the elderly at Latchford, Warrington has won a £500 grant from the borough council.
St Margaret’s Elders Group has been granted the money to help boost activities for socially isolated residents in the Latchford East area.
Margaret Isherwood, who runs the group, said: “The money will be spent on providing chair based exercise classes and craft activities.”
A member of the group added: “This group is a life line and the highlight of my week!”.
Cllr Kate Hannon, the council’s lead member for leisure, community and culture, said: “I’m glad that community groups are benefiting from our Local Area Fund and to see that the funding is being put to good use. I hope that the members at St Margaret’s enjoy their new exercise classes and craft activities and would urge any local community group in need of support to apply.
“These volunteers are the backbone of our communities and we will do what we can to help.”
