Graham RoughsedgeONE of Stockton Heath’s longest serving parish councillors has decided to step down.
Cllr Graham Roughsedge (pictured) has served on the council for 18 years and has been chairman four times.
He was born in the village and served as a police officer for 30 years – 18 of them in Stockton Heath.
Parish council chairman Cllr Helen Dutton said: “Graham has a unique record of service to the local community, both as a councillor and as a police officer. He will be sorely missed.”
Cllr Roughsedge said: “I have enjoyed my time on the parish council and I will miss the work. I have always taken a close interest in the village and particularly Stockton Heath Walking Day and also Ackers Pit.
“Of course the village has changed a lot over the years – it’s not really a village now. But I would not have wanted to live anywhere else.”
Members of the council at their monthly meeting paid tribute to Cllr Roughsedge who cites health issues as the reason for his resignation.
