WARRINGTON Youth Club is delighted to announce that TK Maxx in Warrington has chosen to support the Girls Group Programme which has been run by the organisation for the past 15 years.
The personal development programme is aimed at girls and young women aged 13 – 19 from across the town. The course which is facilitated by qualified Youth and Community Workers supports the young people to learn about some of the social issues which may affect them during their teenage years.

Topics covered on the course include Self Identity and Women in the media, Healthy Living and fitness, Cyber Safety and Bullying, Alcohol and substance awareness.
The course is delivered three times a year in line with the school terms and supports 45 young women each year.
The Youth Club receive referrals for the programme from a range of professional organisations including schools and colleges, GPs, Child Adolescent Mental Health Service, Youth Service and young women themselves. They have received a significant amount of comments from young women following their experience on the course:

“I have been to Girls Group about 6 times now and I really enjoy it. I was really nervous about starting because it is something way out of my comfort zone but now I enjoy coming and don’t feel nervous about coming because everyone who goes is really kind to me and welcoming, and it’s nice to see them each week.”

“Right now in Girls Group we are doing Positive Diaries which is really helpful to me because that is something I need to work on. Doing the diaries so far has helped me because it has shown me some ways to start thinking positively about myself and other situations that go on around me.”

“I hope to be a more confident person who thinks more positively about me and the situations that go on around me. Also I hope to be going to college with good GCSEs, because I have been able to concentrate more in class and revise because I have been in a better place thanks to Girls Group.”

Warrington Youth Club Chief Executive Dave McNicholl, (pictured) expressed his gratitude to TK Maxx saying, “Warrington Youth Club supports some of the most vulnerable young people from across the town and the personal development programmes which we have developed with young people are impetrative in supporting the young people through some of the most turbulent times in the their lives.
“As a charity maintaining the funding to deliver these programmes in an ongoing challenge, the support of local businesses is essential in helping us to help those young people who need it most. I would like to thank the company and look forward to working with them in the future.”
