WARRINGTON North MP Helen Jones and local councillor Graham Friend are calling on police to keep a special eye on Parkfields Park. Fearnhead.
The MP said said that during a recent mobile surgery in the area residents raised concerns about drinking and litter in the park.
She said: “Graham and I went to see for ourselves and there was clear evidence of drinking in parts of the park with cans and bottles and other litter in the bushes.“
Cllr Friend said: “ The Friends of Parkfields Park have done an excellent job trying to clear up the area and I don’t want to see that undermined by the selfish actions of a few people so I will be asking the local police to monitor the area.”
Ms Jones added: “Now that the nights are becoming lighter people want the park to be a safe place to walk and for children to play in. They don’t want groups gathering to drink in the bushes, leaving rubbish about. We urge anyone who sees any anti-social behaviour to report it to the police so that everyone can enjoy the park and the work done by local residents is not spoilt.”
