A MOTOR cyclist was killed when his machine was in collision with a lorry on the A57 Manchester Road at Warrington.
The crash occurred shortly after 5pm last night at the junction of Manchester Road with Woolston Grange Avenue, Woolston – known locally as Woolston Island.
Police are appealing for witnesses and would especially like to hear from the driver or passengers of a silver or grey people carrier seen in the area at the time. They believe the occupants of this vehicle could be key witnesses.
The motor cyclist, a 60-year-old man from Salford, who was riding a black Suzuki 1200s Bandit, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses are asked to contact the Warrington specialist road policing investigation unit on 01244 614819.
Approximately an hour later, emergency services were called to the M6 near Warrington after three cars were involved in a collision.
Fire crews using hydraulic cutting gear released a woman trapped in one of the cars. A man and a girl aged about five managed to get out of the car unaided.
All three were taken to hospital for treatment.
The collision occurred between junctions 20 and 21.
