Roadside car seller prosecuted

A MAN who was caught selling vehicles from the roadside at The Park in Penketh has been prosecuted by Warrington Borough Council.
Barry Kearney, of Newborough Close, Callands was found guilty in his absence, under the Clean Neighbourhoods Act 2005.
Kearney, owner of Bk Motors on Hoyle Street was fined £200, with an additional £200 costs and £20 surcharge at Warrington Magistrates Court.
Pete Astley, assistant director for regulation and public protection, said: “Thanks to reports from local residents we were able to deal with this matter swiftly and stop the illegal roadside trading on The Park.
“This seller was causing a distraction for passing motorists and becoming a nuisance to the residents who live nearby. I would like to thank everyone who helped us to identify this illegal practice.
“This sends out a clear message to others that selling vehicles from the roadside is an offence and it will be deal with seriously.”
