WARRINGTON Collegiate students studying Motor Vehicle are working with the latest technology thanks to Vauxhall.
Ten gearboxes have been donated to the Motor Vehicle Training Workshop at Warrington Collegiate giving the students the opportunity to work with leading-edge motor industry technology.
The gearboxes that cover a range of cars will help the student technicians develop the knowledge and skills to successfully rebuild, diagnose and rectify gearbox faults.
A team of Apprentices, together with Chris Johnson, Lecturer in Motor Vehicle at Warrington Collegiate, met Mike Wilkins at Lookers Vauxhall, Warrington, to pick up the gear boxes. Mike. Mike had kindly arranged transportation of the gear boxes from Vauxhall Motors.
Chris said: “These gear boxes will help us train our future vehicle technicians on cutting edge, up-to-date technology. Vauxhall has donated other parts, including a fully equipped car, in the past and this continued support is wonderful.”
Student Jayson Biddle, aged 17 from Birchwood and studying Level 3 Motor Vehicle, added: “This is really great. There’s no substitute for the real thing. The garage here at the college is really well equipped and I’m looking forward to working on the new gear boxes.”
Students and apprentices from over 30 schools come to study motor vehicle maintenance and repair at Warrington Collegiate in the state of the art facilities that include a tyre bay, engine strip down area and a diagnostic area which includes all the latest diagnostic equipment including air conditioning equipment.
Pete Jones, Curriculum Director for Motor Vehicle at Warrington Collegiate, says, “As one of the largest training providers of post-16 education in Warrington it is only natural that we would want to have the very best training work shop for our staff and students. Some of the technology we have here can be considered as three years ahead of its time. We offer a 21st century learning environment for our students and we want to work with them to ensure that our students leave here with both excellent qualifications and the experience to match. We look forward to continuing and developing our relationship with Vauxhall and are optimistic for what the future holds. “
State of the art facilities and equipment together with high quality teaching from industry experienced tutors means that students progress onto employment in the motor industry with top class dealerships such as Citroen, Hyundai and Mercedes.
