Planners urged to refuse home extension

PLANNING chiefs at Warrington are being asked to refuse permission for a partly built house extension – because the design of the roof differs from the plans originally approved.
The house is in Marina Avenue, Great Sankey and officers are recommending that the borough’s planning committee refuse a retrospective application and also take enforcement action to have the unauthorised development removed.
Councillors have been told that the applicant is related to a council employee.
Originally, proposals for single-storey extensions to the rear, side and front of the house were approved in May last year.
But during construction it was brought to the council’s notice that the work had not been carried out in accordance with the approved plans.
Officers say the proposed extension – which is largely built – harms the character and appearance of the property and the wider street scene and as such is an unacceptable and unsustainable form of development.
Members of the planning committee have been asked to visit the site before considering the application.
