Zebedee – the cat with £500 on his head

THEY seek him here, they seek him there…Zebedee the “bouncing” cat.
He went missing from home in October but has been spotted several times since – and even photographed!
But so far, despite a desperate search by his distressed owner, Carol Treasure, he remains at large – despite a £500 reward being offered for his safe return.
Zebedee came to Lymm with Carol in 2007. He was just six weeks old and Carol had moved to the village from Nottingham only three weeks earlier and was starting a whole new life.
Zebedee lived up to his name – bouncing around like the “Magic Roundabout” character. He was loving and friendly – but also adventurous and likely to AWOL.
Since moving to Lymm, Carol has added to her family with another human – husband Russell – another cat, Mia and border collie, Chloe and four chickens. But Zebedee has taken them all in his stride.
In October, Carol and Russell went away for the weekend to celebrate their first wedding anniversary and when they returned Zebedee was out – and has not returned since.
A neighbour had seen him that day, near their home in Stage Lane. Since then, he has been seen several times – near the Barn Own pub, near Cyril Bell Close, and sitting on a boat on the Bridgewater Canal – when he was even photographed.

On Christmas Eve he was seen sitting under a car – but then disappeared.
Carol and Russell have launched a Facebook page (Missing Cat in Lymm) and many friends have helped in the search.
A complicating factor is that Carol and Russell have now moved to Arley – but the new occupants of their Lymm home are looking out for Zebedee should he return to the house.
Carol said: “Zebedee is a larger-than-life character, very independent and an expert hunter. He is more than capable of looking after himself ‘in the wild’! However we believe there’s a possibility that he may have been ‘adopted’ by someone locally, who did not know he already has a loving home. Perhaps he is being kept indoors and not able to return home. He is micro-chipped.
“Zebedee is a cornerstone of our little family, and very much loved and missed by all of us. Anything more that the Lymm community can do to help us to bring Zebedee home would be so much appreciated.”
