A NEW 10 week programme of arts based activities will begin in South Warrington on Thursday March 19.
Taking place at St Mary Magdalene’s Church Hall, Cobbs Estate, Appleton, from 10am-12pm each week, the course will include sessions from photography to arts and crafts.
The scheme has been set up by Creative Remedies, a council supported group which aims to improve the health and wellbeing of Warrington residents over the age of 18.
The group was initially set up to offer support for people experiencing or recovering from mild to moderate mental health issues, such as anxiety and depression. Since then, it has now been opened up to anyone over the age 18 who feels that social interaction would benefit them.
All sessions are free and equipment will be provided.
They are as follows: March 19 and 26: photography group; April 2, fun craft session; April 23: short story reading group; April 30 and May 7 and 14: arts and crafts; May 21 and 28 and June 4: creative writing.
Cllr Pat Wright (pictured), Warrington Borough council’s lead member for health, wellbeing and adult services, said: “Creative Remedies is such a vital service that provides support to some of our most vulnerable residents. “It’s great to see that they’re running another 10 week course as
I’ve seen first hand the positive impact that the courses can have on people. If you think this course might be for you then come along, meet some new people and learn new skills.”
