Demolition contractor appointed for Bridge Street Quarter Project

THE regeneration of Warrington’s town centre has taken another step forward following the appointment of Celtic Technologies Ltd., as demolition contractor on the multi million pound Bridge Street Quarter project.
Work is expectedc to start in April and take 21 weeks to complete.
Based in nearby Newton-Le-Willows, Celtic Technologies is an award winning leader in the provision of environmental services with a proven track record of delivery after more than 20 years in the industry. Celtic are part of EnGlobe Corp, a world leader in providing integrated environmental services. Demolition works will start early in April and are expected to take 21 weeks to complete.
The Bridge Street Quarter Regeneration project is being delivered by Warrington & Co., on behalf of Warrington Borough Council with development partner Muse Developments and will provide a new market hall, a multiplex cinema, a number of family friendly restaurants, a new council office building and will create a new public square.
Following the demolition of the Time Square area, work will commence on the first phase of the construction of the new development. The first building to be built will be a temporary market hall into which the market will relocate early in 2017 in order that the current market hall can be demolished and then a new, 41, 000 sq. ft. market hall can be constructed. At no time will the market close or cease to trade.
When open the permanent new market hall will incorporate the magnificent, Grade 2 listed former Boots building façade on Bridge Street as one of its entrances. The opposite side of the building will feature entrances out towards the new square in front of the new multiplex cinema. Access into the market will also be available from the two other sides of the building in order to generate and promote through footfall and promote trade.
The Bridge Street Quarter project will create up to 400 construction jobs and 400 new permanent jobs in the leisure, retail and restaurant sectors when the whole project is fully completed in 2019.
