Matty-RussellFULL-BACK Matty Russell could return to the Warrington Wolves line-up for this weekend’s trip to France to face Catalans Dragons.
With Stefan Ratchford still missing, Russell has been named in Tony Smith’s 19-man squad to come in contention for the number one role, which was filled by Kevin Penny in the World Club Series defeat to St George Illawarra Dragons last weekend.
The Wolves have a 100% record in Super League so far, having beaten Salford and Hull in their opening two league games.
Head of coaching and rugby Tony Smith said: “Catalans have not made a lot of changes. They’ve brought in Todd Carney – who hasn’t played so far but we are expecting him to make his first game this week. We’ll prepare for if he is there and for if he isn’t. He’s a world-class player but even without him they’ve got some top-class players. We’ll have to be at our best as our defence will get tested this week. So far it’s been pretty solid and has been able to withstand most challenges but it will get a different sort of challenge this week.”

Warrington 19-man squad: Asotasi, Atkins, Bridge, Clark, Currie, B Evans, Harrison, Higham, Hill, Laithwaite, Monaghan, Myler, O’Brien, Penny, Philbin, Russell, Sims, Westwood, Wheeler.
