Woman threatened with knife

A WOMAN was threatened with a knife when she attempted to fight off two robbers at Warrington.
Police today appealed for witnesses of the attempted robbery in St Peter’s Way.
The 27-year-old woman was walking in the direction of Battersby Lane when she was approached by two men on bicycles.
One attempted to grab her handbag and when she resisted produced a knife and gthreatened.
A man in his early 30s approached and two would-be robbers fled on their bikes towards the Cockhedge roundabout
Detectives are keen to speak to the unknown man who intervened as they believe he may be able to assist with their enquiries.
He is described as about 5ft 9 inches tall with a regular build and spoke with a local accent. He was wearing a dark coat with a grey scarf and had short brown hair.
The first offender was in his mid-30s, about 5ft 9 inches tall with a regular build. He was wearing a dark coloured hooded top with a dark coloured jacket.
DC Nick Talbot of Warrington CID said: “Fortunately the victim was not injured but she was left shaken by what had happened.
“We are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident who may have witnessed anything significant to please come forward.
“We would also like to appeal for the witness who approached the group to come forward as he may have important information which can help our investigation.”
Anyone with any information in relation to the incident should contact Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 736 of 10 February 2015.
