Grants for older people's projects

A NEW grant programme to fund projects for older people in Warrington has launched.
Grants of up to £5,000 will be available to voluntary and community organisations interested in running projects which will involve and benefit older people – aged 50 or older – who live in Warrington.
The programme is run by Cheshire Community Foundation and supported by Warrington Borough Council.
It will give priority to projects involving older people living in deprived neighbourhoods or in isolated areas where transport links are poor, those who do not currently take part in activities or access services and groups of older people with shared, identifiable needs – such as older men, LGBT communities, bereaved people, people living alone, people with long-term health conditions, people with sensory
impairments and those with additional needs.
Cllr Kate Hannon (pictured), the borough council’s lead member for leisure, community and culture, said: “These grants are for groups addressing priority needs in the community and for whom a small amount of money can make a really big difference. The foundation is keen to hear about innovative ideas that involve older people who are “hard to reach” as well as projects that encourage older people to share their skills, experience and knowledge with others.”
An information event will be held on Wednesday February 25 at 10am-12pm at The Gateway, Sankey Street. To book a place, contact Annie Baker at Warrington Voluntary Action, email [email protected]
