Fire safety advice for businesses

BUSINESS leaders in Warrington will be able to attend an informal seminar which will help them protect their livelihoods from the devastation of fire.
The event is being held by Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service at their headquarters in Winsford on Thursday, February 19.
It will help business owners understand their legal obligations as well as give tips on protecting premises from fire.
Head of prevention and protection Keith Brooks said: “Cheshire Fire Authority is committed to helping companies to reduce the risks of fire, which includes fires started by arson.
“It is estimated that up to 80 per cent of businesses are seriously affected following a fire and many never recover. Simple measures can be taken which can significantly reduce the threat.
“It is hoped that anyone who has a responsibility for undertaking fire safety audits or fire risk assessments within a company can attend and be better informed for the future.”
The seminar which lasts two hours and starts at 10am, will offer a unique insight into fire safety requirements including:
• Preparing for a fire safety audit
• Responsibility for fire risk assessments
• Common shortfalls found
• Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety Order) 2005.
Anyone who would like to attend should call 01606 868761 or email [email protected]
