Kids new kit thanks to funding

LATCHFORD Albion Unicorns under 15s rugby league team have a brand new kit, thanks to the council’s Local Area Fund.
The Local Area Fund provides grants between £50 and £2,000 to groups looking to deliver projects in the community.
The club had found their old kits were suffering from wear and tear so they contacted the council and after successfully applying, were granted a fund to help provide the players with new, smarter looking attire.
The request was made by Head Coach, Andrew Wood, who believed that better kits would increase the player’s pride in their club and local area.
Andrew said “We are thrilled to have this new kit which is a great way to celebrate the seventieth anniversary of the club. Wolfie being on hand to present the kit was just a bonus.”
Cllr Kate Hannon, executive board member for leisure, culture and heritage said: “Our Local Fund is a fantastic opportunity for groups to deliver a community project. It’s great to hear first-hand from groups such as the unicorns what a difference this funding can make.
“So, if you are involved in a community project aimed at helping local residents, please don’t hesitate to contact us.”
