Time to talk – about mental health

WARRINGTON Borough Council and its partners are supporting “Time to Talk Day” and encouraging people to take five minutes to have a conversation about mental health.
On Thursday (February 5), they will be backing a national campaign, run by Time to Change, in a bid to inspire conversations about mental health and to raise awareness.
An event will be held at Warrington Market from 10am to 4pm when there will be a marquee, run by volunteers and mental health professionals, where people can drop-in to talk, in confidence, about mental health and get information on a variety of local support services.
Stall holders are supporting the day and will each display a card to
promote the event.
Also supporting the event are Warrington Head2Toe group and Creative Remedies in conjunction with the council’s mental health outreach team, Warrington CCG, Network Warrington, and Mood Swings.
Cllr Pat Wright (pictured), the council’s lead member for health, wellbeing and adult services, said: “We hope the event encourages people to talk more openly about their own or loved one’s mental health. This is a positive way to challenge stigma and discrimination. We need people to take part by having a conversation with a friend, family member or at work, so that together we can raise the profile of this initiative and encourage positive conversations about tackling mental health issues.”
