House in garden plan rejected

PLANNING chiefs have thrown out an outline proposal for a detached house in the rear garden of an existing house at Stockton Heath.
They say the development at the rear of a house in Burnside House would not be acceptable in highway terms because of an inadequate access that would be unlikely to meet the requirements of the Fire Servivce.
It would have a shared access that would be too narrow to serve two dwellings and did not include a separate footpath, leading to conflict between pedestrians and vehicles.
The scheme was opposed by Stockton Heath Parish Council and by eight neighbours. There was also an objection from a nearby scout group whose premises would be overlooked by the new house.
