AROUND 900 people from across the north west attended the Warrington Apprenticeship Job and Careers Fair.
The event allowed young people and their parents to meet with over 40 high profile employers and organisations to discuss apprenticeship job and career opportunities and how to apply for one of their vacancies in 2015.
Claire Blott, Interim Divisional Director for the National Apprenticeship Service in the North West, said: “This event brought over 450 job opportunities to young people under one roof. With over 900 attendees, it highlights the need for employers to consider hiring an apprentice, and that it’s a great route for a young person to continue with their education and securing work.
“Hiring apprentices is a proven way of attracting new talent and developing a motivated, skilled and diverse workforce, which is why it was fantastic to see such a great turnout this week, from both employers and those seeking employment.”
Some of the high profile companies who exhibited at the event included; Aldi, Amec Foster Wheeler, Barclays, Barlow’s Electrical, Bentley Motors, Brookson, Cogent, Electricity North West, EMR group, Jaguar Land Rover, National Nuclear Laboratory, Nuvia, Optionis, Sellafield Ltd, The Hut Group, Unilever and United Utilities.
Advisors from the National Apprenticeship Service, along with; Helen Jones, MP for Warrington, Training Providers, Barclays Life Skills, Department for Work and Pensions, Warrington Collegiate, Future Tech Studio, National Careers Service and Warrington Young Peoples Careers Centre were also on hand throughout the evening to offer guidance.
Warrington North MP Helen Jones, said: “I was very impressed by the number of opportunities on offer. It is very important that young people are aware of all the career paths open to them.”
