Wolves celebrate Bridge testimonial with win

CHRIS Bridge celebrated his testimonial with a win as Warrington Wolves defeated Hull KR 40-0 at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.

Tony Smith’s men went unbreached for the second successive first team friendly, following the 16-0 win over Widnes at the start of the month.
Kevin Penny staked his claim for a starting spot in the Super League opener against Salford on Saturday week with a brace of tries, while a re-invigorated Ben Westwood also scored a double.
Penny scored a stunning 80 metre effort, outpacing nippy Hull KR full-back Kieran Dixon, before adding a second following half time.
Rhys Evans and Ben Currie also crossed for tries, with Stefan Ratchford adding a try and six goals to mark an unhappy return to the Halliwell Jones Stadium for Tyrone McCarthy, the former Wolves forward who has joined Hull KR in the off-season following a stint in Australia.
Super League Man of Steel Daryl Clark made his first outing in the primrose and blue following his arrival from Castleford, playing alongside Ashton Sims and new vice-captain Chris Hill in the front row.
Several players doubled up from the curtain raiser to this game, where a youthful Wolves side were beaten 26-6 by French side Toulouse.
Only a sprinkling of first teamers featured in that game, including Matty Russell, Gary Wheeler, Roy Asotasi and Ben Harrison.
Winger Kuni Minga scored four tries for a Toulouse side who included Danny Hulme in the squad, the former Widnes youngster and nephew of ex-Warrington forward Paul.
