Secretary of State visits Wolves

WARRINGTON Wolves welcomed Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport Sajid Javid to the Halliwell Jones Stadium on Friday.
Javid’s visit focused on the club’s work within the local community with an introduction to the Charitable Foundation and a tour of the heritage timeline at the stadium reflecting on the history of the Warrington club within the town.
Norman Summers, club interim chief executive, said: “It was good to welcome Sajid Javid to Warrington Wolves. It enabled him to see all the good the club does with regards to work in the local community, encouraging participation in sport and the development of healthy lifestyles.
“The visit also provided the opportunity for him to see the value of the investment made by the Heritage Lottery Fund, walking the Wire2Wolves timeline demonstrating the contribution the club has made within the town over many years.”
Culture Secretary Sajid Javid said: “It was great that David Mowat took me to see the fantastic work that Warrington Wolves are doing in the local community, encouraging young people to take up sport and volunteer. With backing from the national lottery, I wish them all the best for the future.”
Meanwhile, the Warrington Wolves Foundation have just received confirmation of further funding from Heritage Lottery for a new project ‘Pass it Back’ which will see an outreach of their heritage into schools and community groups using past players and volunteers.
