High school’s career fair

YEAR 9, 10 and 11 pupils from Warrington’s Sir Thomas Boteler CE High School attended the school’s annual careers fair where they were able to meet representatives from about 30 employers or higher education providers.
The fair – which has developed in recent years to become a highly success event in the school’s careers calendar, aims to provide the youngsters with the highest quality impartial information, advice and guidance as they prepared to leave high school and move into the next chapter of their lives.
Exhibitors included local colleges, universities, training providers, police, armed forces, The Royal College of Nursing and various companies. These included Bank of America, Barclays Bank, Sainsbury’s, Compass Group, Solvay Interox, Unilever, Sellafield and Eddie Stobart. Collectively, these companies enabled students to meet with practising professionals spanning many business sectors including accountancy, engineering, technology, manufacturing, retailing, sales, marketing, logistics and hospitality.
This provided an invaluable opportunity to investigate many career opportunities “under one roof” and enabled students to make all important contacts and create networking opportunities.
Planning for the next careers fair, to be held in November, will commence during the summer term to ensure the fair continues to provide first class careers information, advice and guidance.
