MP candidate praises community healthcare

PROSPECTIVE Tory candidate for Warrington North, Richard Short, has praised NHS services in the town.
NHS services in Warrington are provided by the Bridgewater Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, and the number of qualified health visitors available to Warrington North residents has increased by 85% from 102 in 2011 to 189 in 2014. Numbers of qualified community nursing staff excluding health visitors have increased by 66% from 409 in 2011 to 682 in 2014.
Short said: “Under the previous Labour Government the number of health visitors serving Warrington suffered a 13% drop. If Andy Burnham had his way this would have dropped even further with his proposed cuts of £15-20billion across the NHS.
“The truth is that only the Conservatives promised to protect NHS spending and that promise has been kept, despite being told we were irresponsible for doing so by Labour’s Andy Burnham.
“Protection of the budget and putting healthcare back into the hands of healthcare professionals has meant we are better able to keep up with medical advances and increasing costs of complex healthcare.
“I genuinely fear Labour having control of the NHS. Labour presided over the worst and most dangerous scandals while cutting services across the board.
“The facts speak for themselves, with extra funding, handing control back to the professionals and putting the patient ahead of bureaucracy the Conservatives have a proven record of delivering on the NHS.”
