Emergency road closures

1

A BUSY town centre road at Warrington will be closed from early today (Wednesday) while work continues on repairs to a major cable fault.
The fault is in Froghall Lane, between its junctions with Midland Way and Bewsey Road.
Work actually started on Monday, but due to the busy location an emergency road closure will be implemented today.
Traffic will be able to enter Froghall Lane from Bewsey Road for access only but access will not be available from Midland Way.
A diversion route of Midland Way, Lythgoes Lane, Pinners Brow, Winwick Street and Tanners Lane will be signed for traffic in both directions.

  1. When similar emergencies occur and buses get diverted it would be nice for the drivers, who know about the diversions, to let the passengers know when they get on!!!!

I have been on two journeys recently where the bus has gone off route to avoid an accident or road closure.

Passengers see a bus stop and press the bell but the rules are such that they are not allowed off. The bus can only stop at designated bus stops for its route.

I am a regular bus user and find it an excellent service apart from after 6pm when my 15 minute service changes to a 2 hour one. Last night I had to walk about a mile and a half to get home because the bus was diverted and the other week a lady with her two infants was shouting and cursing because of the situation.

It would be nice to know what is going on.
