ST Rocco’s Hospice Christmas tree recycling appeal was a great success, raising £12,500 for the Warrington based charity.
The third year of the appeal saw over 1200 trees collected, making it the biggest ever.
Despite the windy conditions, 80 volunteers from Warrington Borough Council, Ground Level, Golden Gates Housing Trust, BT Skips, White Moss and Shades of Green all helped residents wave an official goodbye to Christmas by collecting their retired trees.
The firs will now be turned into compost, and all funds raised will help the hospice provide vital care and support to people with life limiting illnesses.
Pam Massey, CEO of St. Rocco’s Hospice, said: “We are delighted with the success of this year’s collection, and would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who donated, our volunteers, and to the Warrington businesses that provided us with such fantastic support. We look forward to offering the service again next year!”
