Careers service on the move

WARRINGTON’S Careers for Young People service is on the move – to make way for the multi-million £ Bridge Street regeneration scheme.
Its current headquarters, in Time Square, will be demolished as part of the project – and the service is to relocate to the Contact Warrington building in Horsemarket Street from Monday (January 19).
The telephone number will remain the same, however – 01925 424900.
In addition, the service will be running sessions from community centres on an ad-hoc basis and details of these will be on the website www.careersforyoungpeople.co.uk
Cllr Jean Carter (pictured), the borough council’s lead member for children and young people’s services, said: “We are absolutely committed to helping young people in Warrington find the right path for them after secondary school and we have a great team of advisors who can give friendly advice and support.
“There’s also lots of information and support about finding a job, apprenticeship, or training or volunteering opportunity, on our website and there’s also some information to get young people thinking about their next steps.
“If you are a young person currently looking for a job, in January there are a couple of events where there will be chances to meet employers face-to-face and to apply for jobs and opportunities on the spot so don’t miss out.”
A careers event takes place at the careers centre today (Thursday) from 10am to 3pm.
On Thursday January 22 there is a careers and apprenticeship fair at The Centre, Birchwood Park. Details are on the website www.warrington.gov.uk/careersforyoungpeople
