New speed restrictions planned

NEW speed restrictions are set to be introduced on the A574 Warrington Road, Risley to safeguard visitors to newly developed parkland.
The borough council plans to reduce speed limits along Warrington Road and on Silver Lane in conjunction with proposals to introduce limited waiting bays to provide on-street parking to visitors.
The former Silver Lane landfill site is to be redeveloped into parkland and council chiefs believe the current speed of traffic and he number of high sided vehicles using Warrington Road and Silver Lane make it necessary to reduce speed limits from 40mph to 30mph.
This will improve road safety for visitors to the park who park nearbyis felt necessary to reduce the speed limits to 30mph in order to improve road safety for those visitors leaving their vehicles in order to gain access to the parkland.
Currently there is a 40mph limit on Warrington Road but it is proposed to reduce this to 30mph between the junction with Daten Avenue and a point near the junction with Silver Lane.
A 40mph limit will be introduced between a point near Silver Lane and Newchurch Lane.
The whole of Silver Lane will be covered by a 30mph limit.
Any objections to the changes must be received by the borough council’s legal services team by February 5.
