National award for fire service

CHESHIRE Fire and Rescue Service has received a nationally-recognised quality mark for its work with young people on the Prince’s Trust Team (PTT) Programme and is asking local businesses to be part of it.
The service has gained the Matrix Standard after demonstrating exceptional quality standards in areas such as supporting individuals in their choice of career, learning, work and life goals.
As part of the PTT programme, the team need to complete a work placement for two weeks to graduate from the course.
If any businesses can offer a place in Warrington, Halton and Cheshire,
they should contact the Prince’s Trust department on 01606 868476.
To achieve the Matrix accreditation organisations must plan effectively to be able to review, evaluate and develop their service, encourage the take up of professionally recognised qualifications and the continuous professional development of their staff and services.
Nick Evans, youth and community cohesion officer for the service said: “Achieving the Matrix Standard demonstrates the high standard of the
programme that we deliver. It gives us a point of reference to measure from to maintain and improve standards further.
“During the review, which was really robust, we were praised for our dedication and passion for running the programme. Also for our work with young people in Cheshire, Halton and Warrington, which shone through from the team leader’s right through to the chief himself.
“If any company does have a space for a young person, between the ages of 16 and 25, for a two week work placement then I would urge them to contact us for a chat and be part of something great.”
The Service is currently running a number of Prince’s Trust courses and anyone interested in taking part in the free 12 week programme should visit the website www.cheshirefire.gov.uk
