New showroom launched for furniture and recycle project

MAYOR Ted Finnegan and Warrington Town mascot Ollie the Owl were on hand to help officially open a new showroom for the YMCA’s Furniture Help & Recycle project.
Based at the former Quaker schoolroom in the town centre the project aims to provide good quality used furniture to people living on low incomes in the Warrington area.
Each week the YMCA help single parent families, homeless people moving into accommodation, women fleeing domestic violence, families living on benefits, elderly people and low income families.
They collect donated furniture from local people who no longer have a need for it.
Items wanted include three piece suites (with attached fire labels), dining tables and chairs, beds, wardrobes, drawers, pans, cutlery, crockery, carpets, bedding and household items.
Based at the Old schoolroom at 1a Academy Way, the showroom is open 9am-3pm Monday to Saturday.
