Ice cream trader loses licence

AN ice cream trader has had his licence removed by Warrington Borough Council’s trading standards team.
The trader allowed other people to operate their licensed vehicles without carrying out any reasonable checks on their suitability and was also found to be trading in unlicensed areas, such as outside schools.
Pete Astley, assistant director for regulation and public protection at the council, said: “We want to protect the legitimate business interests of responsible traders and to ensure that residents can continue to have confidence in licensed operators.
“We know that responsible businesses want to have robust controls in place and we are working with them to amend our current policy to make sure that all traders comply with the highest standards.
“This trader persistently breached the terms of their street trading consent and we will take action against these kind of breaches to protect our streets.”
All consented vehicles will have an ID plate on them. Trading Standards is encouraging anyone who has any concerns to report them on 01925 443322.
