Bungalow in the garden plan approved

PLANNING chiefs at Warrington have given the go-ahead to a controversial plan to build a bungalow in the grounds of an existing bungalow – despite being urged by officers to refuse permission.
Eight nearby residents opposed the scheme in Lynton Close, Penketh and the parish council also lodged an objection.
But two neighbours supported the proposals – and 116 people signed a letter of support
Members of the borough’s planning committee were told the proposals had been amended at a late stage and, as a result of changes to proposed access arrangements, the highways department had withdrawn an objection.
A sub-station was located to the side of the plot, with its own gated driveway and the proposal involved the use of this driveway for parking for the existing bungalow.
Supporters of the scheme said the plan would provide an affordable home for a young family which would otherwise be unable to stay local.
It would allow the extended family to support and bring up grandchildren in a caring environment.
The committee decided to approved the proposals – subject to a legal agreement being reached with United Utilities over the use of the sub-station drive for parking.
