Traffic piles up after crash

TRAFFIC piled up in Warrington town centre today when Wilson Patten Street was closed following a serious road accident.
The accident was near the junction with Bold Street and police sealed off the area. As a result there were hold-ups stretching back along Liverpool Road and Sankey Way and along Knutsford Road.
A pedestrian was taken to hospital after being in collision with a private car.
Wilson Patten Street has now been partially re-opened, but traffic is still moving slowly in the town centre and motorists are advised to try and avoid the area.
It is expected the situation will return to normal by around 10.30am.
