Applications invited for Grassroots grants

WARRINGTON Voluntary Action’s “Grassroots Grants” scheme has been expanded to cover a wider area of the borough – and applications for grants are now being invited.
Third Sector organisations – voluntary, community, faith or social enterprise groups – can apply for the grants provided they meet the March 9 deadline.
The scheme now covers the following areas Locking Stumps, Oakwood, Birchwood, Gorse Covert, Risley, Culcheth, Croft, Glazebury, Glazebrook, Rixton and Woolston.
Grants of up to £1,000 are available – and these may be as a single award or a number of smaller awards not exceeding £1,000 in one calendar year
Each award must be the result of a separate application. The minimum
award is £100.
An award can contribute towards a larger project.
The Grassroots panel meets every two months to consider all applications received up to 10 working days before the meeting.
Examples of what can be funded are:
Purchase of equipment, like a computer, oven, furniture. The costs of putting on a local event or workshop.
he cost of attending a conference or event, Training for volunteers, including travel costs, additional activities to expand an existing funded project, activities that support community activity, activities that meet an identified need in the local community and funding to support an organisation to achieve a quality or other standard
relevant to their activities.
