School needs space for 105 more pupils

PLANNING chiefs are to be asked to allow extensions to a Warrington primary school to cater for rising numbers of pupils.
A single storey classroom extension and a similar store room extension are proposed at Locking Stumps Primary School in Glover Road, Birchwood and offices are recommending that the borough’s planning committee give the go-ahead.
At present the school caters for 316 pupils but the extension will allow the number to increase by 105 to 421. Two additional full-time and four additional part-time staff will be required.
The extension will involve use of playing field space, but planners say the loss of playing field will be replaced by relocating pitches . Sport England have not lodged any objection.
Although the school is in a mainly residential area, the nearest dwelling is 34 metres away and planners do not believe any properties will be affected significantly by increased noise.
The development will have no detrimental impact on neighbours, the character of the street scene, landscape features or parking.
Plans for new perimeter fencing at St Barnabas CE Primary School, Colin Street, Warrington, are also being recommended for approval.
