Town Hall alterations approved

PLANNING chiefs have given the go-ahead for alterations to one of Warrington’s most important Grade 1 Listed Buildings – the Town Hall.
The alterations will be to the west annexe of the Town Hall and are internal only, including re-opening an internal doorway, formation of a separate office and generally upgrading and decorating the premises.
The aim is to provide greater privacy for jurors at the Cheshire Coroner’s Court which holds inquests in the building
A report considered by the borough council’s planning committee says the work respects the fabric of the historic building and would have a negligible impact on the conservation area in which the Town Hall stands.
There were no objections from heritage amenity societies.
