Warrington should be optimistic in 2015

WARRINGTON – and the country as a whole – can look forward to the New Year with optimism or the first time in a long time, according to Parliamentary hopeful Richard Short.
The Warrington North Conservative Prospective Parliamentary candidate says there is still some way to go, but by comparison with 2010, we can looking forward to 2015 with optimism.
In a New Year message to the town, Mr Short (pictured) says he would like to thank all elected politicians, of all colours, for representing Warrington in the Town Hall, Parliament and in the Police and Crime Commissioner’s office.
He says: “As the Great Recession dug deep in 2008 to 2010 we had little idea just how ruined the country’s finances were.
“With the UK economy grinding to a destructive halt I remember the despair of factories closing and high profile casualties such as Woolworths and MFI unable to withstand the slowdown and closing their doors for good.
“Gold prices soared as they always do in recessions but the UK gold had been sold off by Gordon Brown years earlier, leaving us with no reserves to keep the country afloat.
“The Government was forced to borrow at record levels.
“The situation now couldn’t be more different. We have some way to go
but in comparison to 2010 we can look to 2015 with optimism.
“More jobs are being created than ever before and with the Omega Warrington project going from strength to strength Warrington will
be employing more and more and taking people off benefits.
“The NHS is now being properly monitored to put an end to the tragic stories we used to hear of patients lying in soiled beds and
drinking from flower vases.
“Warrington and Halton NHS Foundation Trust is excellently run and I
look forward to meeting the new chairman, Stephen McGuirk, when he joins the team in April.
“With record numbers of patients being treated and demand for A&E services at an all time high it’s a testament to the hard working staff that the service runs so well.”
Mr Short says one of the biggest decisions Warrington will make will be in May, when there will be a choice between turning the clock back and a return to near bankruptcy of the country or carrying on with reducing the deficit and keeping the country squarely on the road to recovery.
He added: “One thing is sure – everything we hold dear, our NHS, education and all our public services can only be provided if the economy is well run and the public finances are able to pay for them. The economy is strong
once more and is set to get stronger in 2015 and we mustn’t put that at risk.”
