WARRINGTON-based Blue Apple Heroes – the charity which supports veterans with combat stress related illnesses and their families – has moved into a new home for the New Year.
The doors open today at their new drop-in centre at 4, Friars Chambers, Rylands Street, Warrington.
For more than two years, the group have been nomads searching for a permanent home.
They were at the Gateway Centre in Sankey Street – but found they were out-growing the available accommodation.
Veterans and their families will now receive a warm welcome at the new centre where there is a range of activities and facilities including arts and crafts, garden centre and veterans only day room with snooker, football games, movies and sauna.
There is also a family room with a coffee/tea shop and training room
Blue Apple Heroes founder Mark Smith (pictured) is pleased with the move.
He said: “The Gateway was great but slowly we could see we were out-growing it, plus we needed a place where we could offer more.
“We were meeting twice a week, but the needs went beyond that.
“We are not far from the bus interchange or the railway stations. We could not have wished for a better site to call home.
“This not the end – it is the start of a new being, so as they say ‘Watch this space’”.
