MARATHON man James Love is planning to push himself to the limits by completing seven marathons on seven continents in seven days!
James from Glazebrook near Culcheth, Warrington, said: ” I’m doing this because I like to push myself. Most people think I’m mad but you can decide for yourself.
“I’m running A marathon on each of the seven continents in seven days.”
James is no stranger to marathons. He said: “I have done all seven continents before but this was over the space of six years. I’ve been running now for 10 years and I always say every race is my last one. But I love the Buzz I get the end of each event and it pushes me to do another one. I can’t seem to live without it!”
During this event he will run 183 miles and spend 59 hours in the air and fly 38,000 km. There will only be one hotel stopover during the whole event other than that he will be sleeping on a plane.
James will start in Antarctica and then go onto Chile, followed by Miami, Spain, Africa, Dubai and finishing in Sydney Australia.
He added: “Previous to this event I have run both in Antarctica and at the North Pole so I know what to expect with the cold and I have also run twice in the Sahara desert so I’m prepared for extreme heat.”
There are 12 competitors taking part in this multinational event. The book of alternative records recognise the event for world record purposes
“My training for this event has been back to back marathons and half marathons, including Snowden marathon the day after competing in the Rivington Marathon.
“In the Kirkstall marathon I was forth out of 90 competitors, and the day after that I did the Conway half marathon in one hour 36 minutes up the Great Orme.
“I have a lot of support from my wife Angela, my two sons Joseph and Harry and from my friends whom I run with at Pennington Flash Park run on a Saturday morning. This is my favourite run of the week.
“If everything works out as I hope, I will complete my 100th park run in Sydney Australia Marathon.”
His first marathon will be in Antarctica on the union glacier. Marathon number two in South America is at Punta Arenas, North America is in Miami, Europe is in Madrid, Africa is Marrakesh in Morocco, followed by Abu Dhabi in Dubai, finally finishing in Sydney, Australia.
