55% fall in jobless total

NEW figures show a 55 per cent fall in the number of unemployed people in Warrington North since 2010, according to Parliamentary hopeful Richard Short.
The Conservative prospective Parliamentary candidate says this equates to 1,235 fewer people claiming Jobseeker’s allowance in the constituency.
He said: “This means more people with a better standard of living and security of a good job and a regular pay packet.
“People are getting off benefits and into work right across the North West with almost 100,000 more people in work compared to the time of the
last election.
“Overall there are now a record 30.80 million people in work, with 1.75 million more people in work since 2010.”
Mr Short (pictured) said jobs were being created in Warrington – and cited the 2,000 jobs expected to be provided by online retailer The Hut Group at Omega.
He said: “It’s great news that over 1,200 fewer people in Warrington North are relying on Jobseeker’s Allowance to
get by.
“This is the clearest sign yet that the Conservatives’ long-term economic plan is working – helping people get off benefits and into work. With wages now rising ahead of inflation this is excellent news.
“This is happening because we’ve been getting our priorities right by backing businesses to create more jobs with lower taxes and better infrastructure, and fixing the welfare system to make sure work pays.
We’ve been seeing this locally with new jobs at places like Omega Warrington which has already attracted big employers like Asda and Brakes.
“The most recent announcement that a further 2,000 jobs will be created when the Hut Group moves in, is just the best news but it doesn’t stop there – the Omega Warrington site will eventually provide an astonishing 24,000 jobs in the area.
“This means a better future for families in Warrington North, as more people have the financial security and a better standard of living that comes with a good job and a regular pay-packet.’
