Burglaries drop by 26%

THE number of burglaries in November saw a 26% drop compared to last year in Cheshire, down from 300 to 221.
In the build up to Christmas, Cheshire Police have been running their “Blue Christmas” campaign, working with residents to reduce the number of victims of crime.
The campaign has been encouraging people to think about security including home, vehicle, and personal security as well as property marking.
Superintendent Martin Cleworth said: “It is great to see that the people of Cheshire have really taken the messages onboard and are making life difficult for criminals in our area. The advice we have been giving out is simple security advice, the key is to get people to think about it so that they will act.
“A 26% drop in burglaries is impressive but more importantly that figure means there are 79 less families or individuals having to deal with the distress and upset that comes with being burgled. I would encourage everyone to keep up the good work and continue to ensure that your home and valuables are as secure as they can be.”
If you have any information about criminals operating in your area call 101 or alternatively you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. In an emergency always call 999.
