Hollywood comes to Warrington

TWENTY lucky teenagers enjoyed a ‘Hollywood’ style experience when they took part in a new film-making project earlier this year.
Funded by ‘Into Film’ and supported by Penketh High School, the project has resulted in two short film dramas which will be premiered at a red-carpet, big screen showing in Warrington’s Odeon Cinema on Thursday 18 December.
Titled ‘Wired’ and ‘Our Father’, the two films are the product of creative inspiration and hard work from the youngsters, who came up with the story lines, acted, filmed and edited the productions.
This was carried out under the expert direction of project manager Jonathon Kay, owner of film company North Star Digital, script writer and drama coach Lynn Pegler and music video producers Wireside Creative.
Part of the project included a workshop at Media City in Salford and a film master class with Sarah Tulloch, who was a visual effects producer on the Harry Potter films.
Jonathon said: “It has been an amazing opportunity for these young people to get involved in the creative world of film making. They’ve learnt many news skills and really risen to the challenge.
“Hopefully this project has helped to spark new aspirations and ambitions for the future. Who knows, we could have sown a seed that may grow into Britain’s next major film talent – a future Danny Boyle or Keira Knightly. That would be fantastic.”
The youngsters, all aged between 13 and 19, enjoyed taking on the various film roles and most were happy to appear in front of the camera, as well as behind the scenes.
Ryan, aged 15, said: “I had an amazing time working on the films and getting to try out lots of different roles and learn new things. I just can’t wait to see us all on the big screen now!”
