New-look Molyneux Triangle opened

THE opening of the new Molyneux Triangle in Bewsey was marked by a special Christmas themed event for local school children and residents.
It has undergone a huge transformation by Golden Gates Housing Trust, having previously been described as an eyesore by some residents. The area had been underused and suffering from a number of issues, including fly-tipping and dilapidation of surfacing and edgings.
During the event, Christmas cheer was in the air with seasonal games, carols, mince pies and hot drinks. There was even a visit from Father Christmas himself, who officially opened the new triangle before handing out presents.
The refurbishment work to the triangle is part of plans to improve the look and feel of the whole area. The transformation is also part of a wider project by the Warrington Partnership to redevelop and revitalise the area called the ‘Delivering Wellbeing in Bewsey and Dallam’ project.
The work, which was completed by Groundwork Cheshire, has seen a remodelled grass area with new pathways and edging. The use of stepping stones and boulders will also encourage imaginative play. Additional green elements have been added with trees and hedges, improving the biodiversity of the area whilst at the same time having a positive impact on the whole community. Managers from GGHT also got in on the act by painting the fences that back onto the triangle.
Cllr Pat Wright, executive board member for health and wellbeing and adult services, said: “What a great Christmas gift and what a great day. Transforming this area really does mean a lot to local people and is worth the investment as it will have a positive impact on people’s everyday lives and improve the community for the better.”
Cllr Kate Hannon, executive board member for leisure, community and culture, said: “Absolutely brilliant – that is how I would describe this scheme which represents another success story for the ‘Delivering Wellbeing in Bewsey and Dallam’ project and we are delighted to see local facilities improved for the benefit of local people.”
GGHT Chair Roy Smith said: “It is fantastic to see the opening of the new triangle today and to see the continued improvements that GGHT and our partners have been able to make as part of the ‘Delivering Wellbeing in Bewsey and Dallam’ project. It sends a clear message that we are committed to improving the lives of the residents who live there.”
