Traffic hold-ups warning

0

WARRINGTON Borough Council has issued a warning to motorists about possible hold-ups arising from maintenance work being carried out by the Highways Agency on the M6 motorway bridge at Junction 22, near Winwick.
Work has been going on for some time, but additional works have been identified and as a result the southern half of the roundabout is currently closed.
This means that traffic travelling east from St Helens/Wigan along the A579 Winwick Lane will only be able to turn left on to the south bound carriageway of the M6 and will not be able to cross the roundabout to access either the Winwick Link Road towards Warrington or the north bound slip to the M6.
Traffic travelling east along the Winwick Link Road towards the M6 roundabout will have no restrictions. However, drivers should allow additional travelling time due the general increase of traffic being diverted within the local area.
