YOUNG dancers from Warrington are to have the opportunity to take part in a workshop with leading dance company Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures -thanks to a partnership with arts charity IdeasTap, which helps young people aged 18-30 trying to make a start in the creative industries.
The dancers, who have been selected from hundreds of applicants, will have a chance to learn about the distinctive style and technique of the world-famous dance company, whose production of Edward Scissorhands opened at Sadler’s Wells in London this week.
Other productions by the company include an all male Swan Lake and versions of Sleeping beauty and Cinderella.
The workshop, which is part of a series taking place across England, will be at the Pyramid Parr Hall tomorrow (Saturday) and will be led by dancers from the Matthew Bourne company.
Following the workshop, selected dancers will be invited to attend a day-long masterclass with the company in London, including an hour-long question-and-answer session with Matthew Bourne himself.
James Mackenzie-Blackman, executive director of Re:Bourne, the charitable arm of Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures said:“Re:Bourne and New Adventures are thrilled to be partnering with Ideastap to discover, nurture and develop the next generation of dance-theatre artists.
“As a company we are passionate about discovering and developing talent that is culturally diverse and representative of communities across England. This groundbreaking programme will enable many young people and emerging artists to work with us to discover and develop a passion for dance.”
