Voluntary library closes

A VOLUNTARY Monday afternoon library which has operated at Appleton Parish Hall for more than three years has closed because of a lack of volunteers and low attendance.
But a Tuesday morning library session, which operates as part of a coffee morning run by Appleton Independent Methodist Church, is very busy and is continuing.
The weekly libraries were started in April 2011 after Warrington Borough Council ended its Monday mobile library service as an economy measure.
Appleton Parish Council has recorded its thanks to members of the Women’s Institute who have been running the Monday library.
