PRIESTLEY College students have been working with the Royal Air Force to put a smile on the face of patients in children’s hospitals in the north west this Christmas.
Father Christmas will visit Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool and The Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital in Manchester on Monday December 16 – not in his traditional sleigh, but courtesy of an RAF helicopter!
He will be delivering presents bought thanks to the fundraising efforts of three north west colleges, including Priestley, who have raised £4,300 between them.
Priestley College tutor Chris Seaton said: “Working with the RAF on this kind of project has been a great opportunity for our Public Services students this year.
“They’ve worked hard to fundraise and are well aware of the difference they are making to the children at the hospitals.”
Father Christmas will be waved off by students from all three colleges at 09:30am. He will then fly to Manchester where he will land at Manchester Academy, close to Manchester Children’s Hospital, at approximately 10:00am and will meet students from the school before joining hospital staff to deliver Christmas presents around the wards.
Departure at approximately 13:20 is followed by landing at Corinthian Primary School Near to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, at 13:45, where he will be welcomed by hospital staff before delivering presents to the wards before his departure at 15:15.
