Get your dog microchipped for free!

VETS across Warrington are offering free microchipping for dogs as part of the Dogs Trust national campaign, supported by Warrington Borough Council.
Microchipping helps identify your dog if lost or stolen and it will soon be a legal obligation for all dogs to be chipped – so don’t miss out.
Having your dog microchipped is one of the best ways to increase their chances of getting home. Unlike dog tags and collars, which can fall off or be removed, microchipping is a more permanent form of identifying your dog.
By April 2016 all dogs need to be microchipped as the law is changing. But don’t forget the law also says all dogs must wear a collar and tag, with their owner’s name, address and telephone number on it.
Cllr David Keane, executive board member for environment and public protection, said: “It is great to be working in partnership with the Dogs Trust. Dog owners should also be aware that the law is changing and from 6 April 2016 you must have your dog chipped – so why not do it for free?”
Dogs Trust are currently offering free microchipping across the country – to find out where call 0330 123 0334 or visit www.chipmydog.org.uk for your nearest participating vet.
