ZOO rangers are celebrating the birth of eleven rare turkeys at Walton Park Children’s Zoo, Warrington.
The rare Borbon Reds will not be destined for the Christmas table.
Depending on their sexes they will either carry on living as the zoo as a visitor attraction or be moved on to other collections for breeding.
Zoo ranger Peter Cookson Dean said: “These are a rare breed of bird. A pair normally have 4-5 chicks but to have eleven is very unusual.
“They are such a rare breed they will certainly not be destined for any Christmas table.

Pictures show Peter Cookson Dean with the proud turkey dad, one of the chicks and proud mum with her brood.
