Park lighting scheme withdrawn

COUNCIL chiefs have withdrawn proposals for a new external lighting scheme in Warrington’s Bank Park.
The scheme was placed on the agenda of the borough council’s planning committee with an officers’ recommendation for approval.
It had been the subject of consultation with local councillors, external consultants, park users, bowling clubs and nearby residents.
But the application was withdrawn before being considered by the committee.
According to an officers’ report the scheme involved a series of lighting columns of traditional design, four metres high and following the line of a partially reinstated path leading to an events area.
They would be sympathetic to the character and appearance of the Town Hall conservation area and would not adversely affect the setting of the Grade 1 listed Town Hall.
The scheme will be re-submitted to a future meeting of the committee.
